authentic can mean unpolished

I made myself make another vlog! Sure, I’m just rambling, but isn’t that what most vlogs are? Professional vloggers just have fewer ums and uhs, and more sponsored content.

I’m watching a gabi belle video right now. And she’s great! But when I watch folks like her, or like Big Tugg, I wonder what you really need to make good videos. And the answer isn’t great equipment, which I think should be obvious. The answer isn’t the best video, though it helps.

Audio is very important, since that’s easy to get wrong, and easier to notice. But using these two Youtubers as an example, it’s also clear that you don’t need to have a well made or researched script, nor a great delivery. The styles that both of these creators use is what I suppose would be termed “authentic” now, as opposed to “unprepared/unedited”.

Which is fair! I think that recalibrating is good. I just realize that it means that I have less excuse to not be making more videos. I have so many ideas and I feel like I am holding myself back by expecting everything to be perfect, and then disliking any of the output.

Maybe I’ll be making more soon? I have a friend visiting for the next week, so I expect it’ll be a lighter week on creativity. But who knows, maybe I’ll take some video while they are here.

If we can use young blood to be younger, let’s use blood of folks around snotty kids all of the time to make fewer snotty kids 🤣

I love the way that this was animated and filmed, and the Jungle Book references.
