a good first week for PawPals

After a week of PawPals being live to the public, I’m overjoyed with the turnout! 80 users have signed up, making 70 personal link pages, and 16 business pages.

I’m still working on branding, which has been the biggest sticking point it seems. I agree, it’s very corporate looking. I used a lot of Tailwind CSS and templating for layouts! I want to get some done this week though, so I can promote it more as well as make little cards to hand out at Megaplex in a few weeks.

I’ve also made a lot of little changes in the past week, including adding more tags that have been recommended, changing up the filter layout, made a lot of changes to how images are managed, and added more link platforms. Eventually there will be a suggestions button on the site, to allow users to suggest these changes there as opposed to in social media messages.

This week I’ve also spent some time drawing peeker designs, cutting and shaving fur to hopefully get a partial done for my partner, and working on general crafting.

I’m starting to feel a bit better about where I am with projects. I’m still scrambling around to get things done before Megaplex. But I also know that after it’s here, I’m done no matter what lol.

For now, here’s a small update vlog, and I’ll see yall next week!

People, Not Posts – Tessa Brown, Real Housewives of San Francisco
Anything can be social media if there’s any way for people to make it social. And people love making things social!

New Yorkers will soon need to verify their age to access algorithmic feeds – Lauren Feiner, The Verge
It’s not like New Yorkers can choose to not have algorithmic feeds. How about you force the companies to offer options, as opposed to punishing everyone else?

Claude Opus 5 became downright ruthless when tasked with running a vending machine – Julie Bort, TechCrunch
Glad to know that I can have AI chatbots lie for me, as long as I’m in control of them!

Never Postโ€™s Mike Rugnetta on the creative process and the value of reliable power – Terrence O’Brien, The Verge
I’ve respected Mike as a creator for many years, and I appreciate hearing what he thinks about being a creator online these days.

Umyazu – mandy brown, A Working Library
“By contrast, the attention economy is all credit: the user pays twice.”

Unmasked | Student Documentary – TuckerVision
A good student documentary that maybe could have some wording and editing a bit better in a few small areas. But I also like seeing Megaplex and Fursquared, since I’ve been to both.

I tried making an album in 30 days – gabi belle
Though I don’t make music, the creative struggle and real life issues that arise that Gabi Belle dealt with are things that I can empathize with. I’m happy that she stuck with it, for her sake!

Why Horror Is The Last Real Genre Left – Thomas Flight
Horror still fits the economics of allowing for experimentation, and plenty of audiences who enjoy horror are willing to try new things.

If you made it this far, why not share this newsletter with a friend? Or share with me some of the things that you found that you liked this week. Either way, I’m thrilled!
