There’s so much to be said about the state of the world, and the state of the country that I live in. At this point you’ve likely seen more than you want about the cruelty of ICE, especially in Minnesota where they seem determined to force the topic of another Civil War. And there is simply no defense and no consequences.
On a more personal level, there have been a number of interactions that I’ve had over the past week that made me feel that not only do most people not care about you, but that there are plenty of people who will make you feel insignificant or invisible for their own pleasure.
This is something that I don’t understand about people. In part, I think that there’s a level of selfishness at play. Ensuring that you get what you want, exactly what you want, can turn into not caring that it’s not what someone else wants.
Got the idea that your way is right? Then the opinions, ideas, and feelings of others don’t matter, because then that means that you might not be 100% right! Got a fantasy in your head about how things should be? Then anyone asserting their identity in a way that doesn’t comport to that fantasy needs to be silenced!
I have been known to catastrophize and spiral at times. Not great. And this kind of casual cruelty can just make that worse. So to say that a number of things coalescing this week has made me feel bad is an understatement.
Today I’m going to be out of town for a birthday party, and I’ll be celebrating my own birthday next week. I am taking a pause on some frustrating projects and hoping that when I return to them, I’ll have a bit of clarity on how to handle them better. For instance, AWS is a pain in the butt!

I don’t want to feel sorry for her. But I can absolutely agree with the idea (from another guest) that some folks can be so intense that you go from not having an opinion to hating them.
If there were such a thing, wouldn’t we be done with the Fascists?
