I’ve been considering swapping the tool that I use for newsletters to something that I can manage a bit better for cheaper. But I haven’t yet taken the time to migrate my archive of newsletters, nor the system for producing them. Another tool that I’ve tried seems promising, but it also isn’t as easy to edit as this one is. Eventually I’d like to find something that I can reliably recommend to other creators.
This week I recorded another vlog, guest starring our cat who definitely can tell when I’m doing the “talking to the camera” voice, and always needs attention at that time.
Outside of that, I’ve been doing more prep work for artist alleys this year, narrowing down the merch that I’m going to offer, and figuring out the rest of the designs that I want to make. After that, I want to redo some of my old stickers, since I’ve been appreciating the changes that I’ve made to my linework and art style.
I always end up writing these thoughts right before publishing, so I invariably forget things, or rush to get through it. I’m trying a new thing for next week, keeping some notes throughout the week on what’s going on to share here. Let’s see how it works! I’d like to give you more things that you can use yourself, as opposed to just my own ramblings.

I unabashedly adore this weird film. It really looks at the world that we’re in now in a way that not a lot of other popular culture has. And that was twenty years ago! I hope to see more from Richard Kelly soon!
The slow death of services like this, where eventually it’ll be like, “oh wow, there were still people on Facebook?”
We really have fucked ourselves, huh? And by we I mean a small handful of absolute maniacs who need to be away from any power.
The transcripts seem fairly straightforward, and very troubling.

Interesting how all of these examples involve defying or defeating said gods.
Women have been unfairly trained to shrink and apologize for things that are not at all their fault.
A lot more thinking on this topic than I’d ever did, but it makes sense and I learned a bit that I didn’t know about the Muppets.
I am careful not to say that any one thing is panacea, but it’s clear that one technique did not work here, and the other at least feels less self-serving and more communal.

All the scamming, all the gambling, all the Right Wing propaganda.
An interesting discussion about the future of being social online if we use agentic tools to improve the feed, not slop it.
I listened to this on the excellent American Hysteria, but since it’s a crossover episode I’ll link the one that shows some of these horrible videos so that you have to suffer too.
They do a good job of turning their arena rock into something for what has still gotta be a huge turnout for Tiny Desk Concerts.
If you made it this far, why not share this newsletter with a friend? Or share with me some of the things that you found that you liked this week. Either way, I’m thrilled!
