I’ve been thinking about this post from Chris Ferdinandi for the past week about Thinking aloud and oversharing.
I’m an AuDHD person who regularly bumps up against communication issues. This affects my personal life and relationships heavily, as well as how I interact in professional settings. Like Chris, I am plagued a bit by how I interact being interpreted in ways that I don’t mean.
- I say the things that I mean, and mean what I say. I’m not trying to hide things in subtext.
- Being direct, even while prefacing that I’m not trying to be mean, ends up coming off as no tact and being a dick. I can have tact, but it’s not worth it when I’m already called passive-aggressive for being direct.
- If I am trying to keep things private, I just try not to say them.
- I ask a ton of questions. Even to things that I’ve had answers to in the past. I can’t assume that the answers are the same!
- Being direct and questioning things itself can be perceived as passive-aggressive.
- I don’t like ambiguity in language. I’m told that I should understand what people are saying, or that I do and I’m just asking. But no, if I ask a question I probably don’t know the answer and want to know it.
- One of the things that shuts me down most quickly is when I attempt to speak up or ask a question but get talked over repeatedly or ignored. I don’t want to interact when I’m not getting interaction.
Like Chris, I also want to not apologize for who I am. I don’t want to treat my neurodivergence as an excuse for my life, nor do I want to treat it as a get-out-of-being-an-asshole-free card.
No, I want to just be authentically myself. And when that means that my communication style doesn’t flow with yours, it just means that more directed, focused work on communication is required. And I think that the extra care is a testament to how important getting it right and being understood is to me.

The fact that it went from an idea of a real virtual pet to just being controlled by puffs kinda says something
The job of digital janitor is thankless and important.
I want more people to use RSS. So I want RSS to be easier to get into, and more widely known and implemented.
Along with the above two articles, our online spaces should be our own. This includes making sure that we have access as time goes on.

What does it say about us that we are so intrigued by the idea that our reality is not real? What does that even mean?
I was not expecting a guide on how you could realistically create a cat vocalized language.
If the lions can attack, who is to say that they are not real?
It is frustrating to discuss the times that this is not the case, as it can appear to erase the lived experience of queer folks who also have to deal with racism. The battle isn’t (shouldn’t be) trans folks versus PoC. Not just because of the large overlap that exists. But because it is empowered versus marginalized.

Yes, this is a mature podcast that I would only recommend to those who are not against the idea of furry porn. That said, the focus is on having folks understand and not downplay or mock trauma, and how hard that can be to find at times.
I want to say that it was all of us, but let’s be real, this is incentivized. Literally incentivized by reputation management firms who create some of the very drama that they get paid to downplay.
This is a much more lighthearted conversation than you’d expect thanks to the humor and candor of the transfolks involved. 🏳️⚧️
I’ve heard Billy’s story, thought that the Regular Show sendup was hilariously niche, and don’t understand why cheating at a video game is so important.
If you made it this far, why not share this newsletter with a friend? Or share with me some of the things that you found that you liked this week. Either way, I’m thrilled!
