If you’re like me (and I presume you’re not subscribed if you aren’t at least like me in this regard), the US election results this week have been very disheartening. I honestly don’t know what to do.
In Orange County, where I live, results were fairly good, and in line with my voting. When it comes to Florida as a whole though, I was very disappointed. I’m pretty sure everything that I voted went the opposite way, from president to senator to constitutional amendments. Sorry Florida, no recreational marijuana or legal abortions for you
Honestly, I’ve just been angry. And that anger hasn’t just been focused here, but on other things that have been going not great elsewhere. I can definitely recognize that I’m in a really great position compared to a lot of people, and I can appreciate that. But I am still angry, and have little outlet to put it into.
Right now, I’m in selfish mode a bit. By that I mean that I’m focusing on things that affect myself and my small, close circle around me. Making sure that we’re doing alright, are taken care of, and have some planning for the future in progress.
I think that we should all be selfish a bit at times like this.
To be clear, I don’t mean be selfish as in forsake everyone around you. I mean self-focused. More like in a self-care kind of way. Part of that for me means that I’m focusing on some people who are very important to me, and trying to de-emphasize things that aren’t serving that group of people. Doing things for them is in. Saying yes to every request from folks that I barely know or have never met is out.
Again, this is not saying to ignore literally everything else. This is highly personal and you’ll have different priorities than I do. But right now might be the time to give yourself more attention than every random task and person that comes into your focus.
Whatever you do, please take care of yourselves and your communities. You are loved

I realize that it shouldn’t shock me, but it still kinda does that even in witch covens there’s transphobia to deal with.
This headline feels like a bit of clickbait, but the article is still an interesting read about the blinking cursor.
Ah good, more ways for us to let computers control us, thanks.
The workarounds needed to make this work (versus just being able to load and use these games) is kinda crazy, and so tenuous.

A sci-fi series where the main character is a chef? Sign me up!
Dysphoria and dysmorphia are all too real as Body Horror, and yet the realism versus torture porn makes this kind of horror more interesting and more upsetting at the same time.
I love that the GLITCH team, behind The Amazing Digital Circus, use their reach and stature to highlight other small animators to get them in front of new audiences. Like me with Spice Frontier above.
I loved this miniseries and while I wouldn’t mind seeing more, I’m just glad that they are appreciating it on the 10 year anniversary.
I’ve been meaning to highlight Pip in a newsletter for a while. I appreciate creators who are furries and don’t hide it, while not making their content just about being a furry. Pip’s history deep-dives are interesting and fun. And in this case, very timely.
I could see anyone making this kind of error while writing code, but the trouble with video game crunch and physical media releases makes it hard to apply fixes that are found too late to beat software shipments.
Just listening to the way that Matt presents himself makes his campaign against WP Engine, and how he’s destroying the community around WordPress, look even more ridiculous.

GOJII takes on my favorite Bjork track, and I love it.
This song got stuck in my head yesterday, and now it will be in yours.
I need this right now, and maybe you do too.
If you made it this far, why not share this newsletter with a friend? Or share with me some of the things that you found that you liked this week. Either way, I’m thrilled!
