david wolfpaw • 27 Feb 2026 • Reading time: 7 minsI haven’t made a youtube video in a few weeks, and I realize how poorly I’m doing at making this the year that I take it seriously. Maybe I’ll finally work on one today, since I’ve got a lot of footage.
Last week I got fired from my staff role with the Megaplex furry con in Florida. tbh I was expecting it to happen, but it still sucked, especially when the reasoning that I was given was basically, “people don’t like you”.
I’m not for everyone! But I also think that was tremendously unfair for several reasons. One being how many folks are kept around who have done demonstrably heinous things but are friendly to the right people. The other is how the only folks who know me to get a take on me outside of a Slack chat either have some reasons that they aren’t any better for their roles, or were also kicked out. I guess wanting more transparency and communication in staffing is a one-way ticket to getting removed because you ask too many questions about the insane level of secrecy in a volunteer non-profit organization.
Anyway! As far as creative work goes, I’m admittedly confused as to why I’ve got myself more active in some projects this week that I’ve been putting off for months.
For instance, I’ve finally done some restructuring of the scavenger hunt web app that I built initially for Megaplex 2025. I fixed some bugs that were found with more folks using it, and set up the config and readme to make it easier for others to use it with their own events. I would like to try it with something like the Goblin Market in the future, or another artist alley, so that artists can do digital stamp rallies.
I am still very early into it, but I’ve restarted the PawPals web app that I started coding finally last year after noodling on the idea for a while. Basically it’ll be a Linktree/Carrd type app but with discoverability features like Barq/Howlr. I threw out the old code to get a better start now that I understand Laravel just a bit more. It’ll be getting a lot more attention soon, as well as a landing page to sign up for interest.
Finally, I’ve been restarting a fursuit head for my partner. The last one I realized that I messed up trimming the fur, as well as cutting the right directions. So I started from scratch since I was moving slowly before anyway and was able to catch back up to that progress.
So we’ll see where this all takes me. I’m trying to stay upbeat, trying to alleviate the negative or muted thoughts and feelings that crop up, and just create when it makes me feel good. I want to make things that I can share with others, and I want to show others how I make things so that they can do so themselves.
This has always been my goal and my guiding principle for what I do. I don’t see myself changing that anytime soon.

I mean, I guess I could argue that a wrong way to be trans is if you are a trans person arguing to other trans people that there is a wrong way to be trans
