Donation drive was successful! Also here are some videos and articles for you!
Howdy [subscriber:firstname | default:there],
I spent three hours today getting my dark hair cut, bleached, then dyed twice. It’s still darker than I’d have hoped, but it looks alright still! I dunno if I’d want to destroy my hair bleaching it even more in the future.
If you’re not aware, this was due to the donation drive that I did for the Zebra Coalition and the Trevor Project that ended yesterday. I beat my goal of $1000 donated, topping off at $1070! Thank you to everyone who donated, and congrats to L James for getting to choose the hair color!
This weekend is my birthday, and next week I’m giving a presentation at the WordPress Orlando Meetup. I figured it was the best time to show off my new look!
This week was a rough one for work, so I didn’t really consume quite that much to share, honestly. No movies, didn’t care for the books that I finished enough to recommend them, and no video game time.
I do have a few videos and articles to recommend this week though!
Relaxing Animal Crossing Rainy Music Compilation (With rain sounds) – I love listening to relaxing game soundtracks while working, as well as the sound of rain. Thankfully this is an entire genre on YouTube! It pretty much gets half of my watch hours.
The Rise and Fall of Gaia Online – Did you have a Gaia Online account? Were you cool enough to have it in the Go-Gaia days like I was? It turns out my account is still out there and active, complete with all of the rare loot that I got back in the day. TBH if it was where my friends were socially now I’d probably do the monthly payments to keep it going.
How We Made Our Own Media Company • Making Watcher – The actual episodes of Watcher shows are more interesting overall, but I love the behind the scenes of new projects. It makes me feel like I could do something crazy in public one day and not fail!
Debussy “Clair de Lune” on Piano for 80 Year Old Elephant – Ampan the elephant is 80 years old, well past the normal lifespan for an elephant. She is nearly blind, and apparently gets music played for her. It’s adorable!
San Jose: ‘Furries’ pulled assaulter out of vehicle, sat on him – Yeah, it’s a normal “people stop assault happening in public” story made interesting by the fact that the people stopping the assault were wearing fursuits. Furries to the rescue!
Ring Throws Customers Under the Bus After Data Breach – I finally saw that atrocious Ring commercial this week where they use customer footage then overlay the text, “A million ways to be a neighbor. Be a good one.” The only way that would be true is if you refuse to put one of these devices on your house. Or put it up and help increase the surveillance capabilities of your local law enforcement.
How Conan O’Brien and Other Top Hosts Are Tapping Into the Podcast Revolution – I mainly put this here as a reminder that I’m well past the self-imposed deadline that I had to start my latest podcast idea, and I need to get on that.
That’s it for this week. Enjoy your weekend, and share any good finds of your own with me!
