Off to WordCamp Minneapolis!

I’m getting closer and closer to events! Once WordCamp Minneapolis is done this week, and Megaplex is done at the end of the month, I feel like my brain will have a lot of empty space that I can use for other things.

I’ve been doing a few website things, including a new devlog noting the github repo block that I made last week, the custom block template that I published for the presentation, and some minor site updates. There are some leaves now! šŸƒ

While I was sick I got selected to give a presentation at Megaplex as well, and I need to create more of that from my initial outline. Adding that to all of the other pre-con tasks, and I’m still feeling a bit overwhelmed, but certainly on the way to just plain whelmed.

I admittedly started this work week allowing discourse on the internet to get me fired up again, but I’m thankful that from my end it seems to have blown over rather quickly. It is still a bit baffling how willing people are to fully misinterpret or completely make things up to fit a narrative that suits them by vilifying you. I mean, I know that I’ve been on the internet forever, but the inanity of infighting is still unbelievable at times.

I’m printing lots of stickers and buttons, and working on a few wooden pins. I’ll be going hardcore at that when I return home at the end of the week as well. When the con comes, I’ll update the online shop with the new goods!

If Ozempic and related drugs can do a better job of treating inflammation, there are countless illnesses that could be addressed with it.

Susan Wojcicki was there from the start (quite literally, when it comes to Google), and her tenure at YouTube shaped the platform, and online platform moderation, discussion, and the creator economy.

New Super Eyepatch Wolf is already good, but this topic and video is very good

An old one, but I was reminded of it by a friend who started a new website this week. You should own your own space online!

Managing grief and death is a challenge that I don’t think that we’ll ever overcome fully.

Shocker, blaming things on external factors that can’t be controlled, as opposed to things that we can affect, like talking with our children.

I enjoy that the hosts of this podcast can be a bit sarcastic, which lets them talk about serious topics with a bit of levity, since platforms do their best to make things boring and obscured.

Heck yeah, another positive episode about a rad historical figure

I think that I’d be ok with people making a chatbot version of me after I die. Maybe even while I’m alive, except I know that some folks would straight up take whatever it says as me being the one who said it.

If you made it this far, why not share this newsletter with a friend? Or share with me some of the things that you found that you liked this week. Either way, I’m thrilled!
