What I’m doing in the meantime is preparing for a few things. I’m giving a presentation at Orlando Code Camp in a few weeks on Web History for developers, with a focus on how we moved from the `view-source` world in browsers to frameworks and libraries and dependencies. I’m hoping that I don’t just flop, considering how out of practice I feel for tech talks.
The next talk is a bit more fun! And hopefully one that won’t feel like it needs the same level of prep. I’ll be giving a talk on furry board games at Virtual BabyFurCon the following weekend, going over some of our large board game collection. We have a bunch of animal, furry, queer, and even babyfur themed games that I want to share. Plus, I look forward to seeing what else attendees bring to share!
Preparing presentations again reminds me how hard it is to get my brain to focus sometimes. Like, I can’t just write out this newsletter intro without cycling through all of the other tabs in my browser a dozen times. I start writing points on a slide for a presentation, only to question if I thought through the topic well enough to even talk about it in front of a crowd.
I guess it’s good to know that this doesn’t go away? I mean, I’d like it to, and just feel comfortable getting up and speaking semi-authoritatively. But then I worry that I lean into hucksterism over actual domain knowledge and experience. Impostor Syndrome, stick to Among Us!

How is there not a big Emergency Stop button on this robot?

I don’t know what it’s telling me that this short film was written and directed by men, with a complete focus on women apologizing.
I love how IndieAlpaca talks about gaming, but barely hides the true themes of their videos, namely how there’s real problems in the world that can be addressed even in our entertainment.

Good point. You may think you’re being funny (and aren’t doing this on purpose), but you’re repeating a lot of anti-trans talking points, and giving a tiny fraction of the harm that JKR has given to us.
I still remember how fractured some folks have gotten over the death of this non-politician and non-government actor. Honestly, that’s the main reason for me to stand my ground on him. He was a dangerous asshole in life and in death. The people using him as a wedge to separate us are further proof of why this is harmful.
I mean yeah, possibly. But at this point how much does it matter?
