Starting 2025 off with YouTube Shorts

Welcome to 2025 yall! I’ve decided that after a year of daily photography, I’m going to try my paw at more videos. I’m starting with an overly ambitious goal of 31 YouTube Shorts, one per day in January. The theme is Starting 2025 Right, and I’ve got three days down already.

I’m trying to do that thing that all the productivity youtubers say: set systems, not goals. So I have some things that would be nice to do this year, but I’m trying to focus on how to actually get to those things instead of just some nebulous idea.

For this project, I’ve made a list of tasks to making, publishing, and sharing each short. That way I can just go through them all (preferably setting up more than one day at a time), with the outcome a more concrete version of the goal of having shorts out.

Anyway! There’s a lot that I’m looking forward to in 2025, some things that I’m very much not looking forward to, and a lot of work to get to where I want to be. But I’m ready to go on this journey with all of you.

Check out my first three shorts below. I may feel embarrassed about them now but I know that the quality will improve if I force myself to regularly practice recording and editing!

Basically, if you live near data centers (or in Florida, lol), your energy delivery to your home is gonna be more wonky than it should, which could damage your devices that are plugged in.

Also seriously, if it costs this much to run queries (It says on the low end they’re still $4/query for old models), there’s no way that this can be sustainable.

I don’t want to have this be true, but this website didn’t even post half of the things that he’s done this year. And it sucks for the Open Source community.

So if you want to continue working on the web, try some of these resources to make your own site!

This is both cute, and true: charge more and your fans will likely follow you. We want people to succeed when they do things that we like.

I don’t think that games will teach empathy on their own, but they can be safe ways to practice it, and to make you think more about it than passive entertainment could.

I didn’t realize that this was a thing, but I’m glad that Blue Dog finally got their day to shine! And the dev discussion behind it is interesting.

More info about the term than I’d known, but basically what I’ve taken it as: we can all use the term in our own ways, and someone isn’t wrong if they do or don’t want to apply it to themselves. I’m a queer dog who likes the way it feels on me.

This was a fun one-off game show episode that I knew far fewer answers to than I’d expected.

Like everything this large, there’s no one easy answer. But there are answers on what to do if countries want to turn this around. And almost none are doing them.
