I’ve been doing a lot of crafting in prep for Nordic Fuzzcon, which I’ll be at in two weeks. I’m both excited and nervous for a solo travel trip to Sweden, but thankful that I have folks to meet up with when I’m there.
Printing art badges, making pins, crafting jewelry and gifts, making stickers, generally designing and hand crafting things has been good for me I think. I’m not ready to start posting new things to my art shop, but when I get back from the con I hope to do that more.
I’ve spent a good part of the week working on self hosting things. I have had a ton of help from my friend Jo, who is much better at sysadmin things than I will ever likely be. While I can do simple things, I keep getting confused around configurations and most things more than following general documentation for existing projects.
This is something that I’m trying to work on! I have another coaching call today for professional and personal work, and we’re going to be discussing Laravel dev. I’m looking forward to having more of an understanding for projects that I’m trying to pull off of the back burner and into active development.
In the meantime, I’ll keep exporting and importing saved articles between self hosted reader apps, looking for an RSS and save it later combo that can do half of the useful things that the paid service that I use right now does.
I’ve been trying out Wallabag and Readeck more, which are both nice, but are not nearly as simple to use as Pocket or Instapaper, and lack some key features that seem (to me anyway) as fairly standard for a read it later app. I’ve been trying out Miniflux and FreshRSS for RSS, with Miniflux my likely winner. And of course I want to be able to read the saved for later things on my tablet and phone, which means finding an app that can integrate.
Eventually I’d like something custom, but at this point I’m still using Readwise Reader which has way too many features and some company flaws, but admittedly has a generally better product. I want to try Omnivore, but it’s no longer hosted and the self-hosted version looks way to involved for me to setup right now.
Do you have a system for finding, saving, reading, archiving, and sharing documents online? I’d love to hear about it, as I’m always trying new apps and eventually want to synthesize something of my own.

This article is making it sound like this is some new phenomenon in journalism. The only thing new is that established journalists are more and more turning to independence to make a living and share important stories, without it just being fluff propaganda served up by a billionaire owner to all affiliate stations.
I think that using less energy is good, but it also seems like it’ll help cause an explosion of AI usage that will end up using more energy overall.

This creator has been doing lots of Zootopia art in various styles and mediums in prep of the tenth anniversary this year. Very impressive.

Sure, proof is helpful, but we all already know this by now, right?
I’m trying to figure out where all of the dance bits with the canes near the end came from. So far I’m getting Pennywise from IT and Jack Nicholson Joker.
