Trying Something New

what does a newsletter look like and how much should it change?

This is going to be a short one this week. I’m experimenting with some new ways that I want to put together my thoughts, including longer content that bounces around in my head but rarely gets written down.

As an example, this week I’ve thought a lot about the future of employment, and how corporate structures are one of the biggest definers and drivers of social agenda. That’s a lot harder to cover in just a few sentences and linkshares than I’ve done in the past. But I also don’t have a background in long-form opinion journalism, and I don’t rightly know if it’s the place for me to begin with.

I’ve repeatedly said in this short space that I’m going to do something new. It turns out that there’s not one big jump to make, but lots of short steps that lead somewhere totally different. My hope is that I can take others along with me, and follow folks who have traveled out of bounds first.

So creators are burning out, and the antidote is to just make even more of their lives part of the content mill for fans? Super.

This week I’m not providing screenshotted jokes or commentary, just a list of links to things that I’ve read, watched, and listened to that I think are worth sharing. It’s an experiment, a hastily thought out one at that, but one that I can get away with doing.

Before I ossify into some structure before even having some critical mass of subscribers, I want to test the bounds of what makes sense with newsletter content. I implore you to follow up and let me know your thoughts.
