Overwhelm is quite easy for me. Anxiety seems to be a default state, where that overwhelm threatens to spiral into another bout of depression. The fact that I’m writing this at 3am because I can’t sleep isn’t lost on me.
I make goals and resolutions like the rest of us, and I sometimes keep a few of them! But like most people, I let most of them go, feeling a bit of drain, blaming myself for my lack of will power and expressing frustration about the situation, and a resignation that this is why things go the way that they do for me.
It’s a negative place to end up, it’s not true, and it leads to more feelings that are not what I want. So I know that it’s only as productive as giving myself a reminder that I’m imperfect, and can’t just treat myself like the robot that I sometimes desire to be

So this weekend, or the next time that you start to think that you failed at a goal that you set for yourself, remind yourself that no one was making you do it, others won’t notice, and you didn’t fail so much as you didn’t meet an overly high standard. Hopefully you made some progress toward that goal, and that’s something to celebrate!
I ask you to be kind to yourselves, because I need a reminder to be kind to myself. Let’s Be Kind.

I know that I’m basic, but I do love learning more about my culture that I was never taught as a child.

I never got pulled into LG15, but I remember the impact that it had on culture. It’s still is impacting internet culture.
We have this idea of what cults are based on the most sensationalist stories that break into the headlines. But those are the cults that go so far, and are so over the edge that they bubble up into public consciousness. The real cult is much more insidious, hiding behind the power their leaders have over their followers.
I think that kids being raised with generative AI are going to do so much more with it, and reshape their world in ways that we can’t comprehend yet.
